November 4th was a landmark day in the schools history as our new section of the school was officially opened by the minister for Education and Skills Ms. Jan O’Sullivan. Having been greeted by two of our sixth class girls who presented her with dried wild flowers, Minister O’Sullivan toured our school visiting a number of classes where she was very impressed by the manners and politeness of our children. We then proceeded to show her the former Teagasc offices that the school purchased and are currently renovating. Following a visit to the ASD classrooms and meeting some of the children and parents we moved onto the main part of the visit. Following speeches by Mr Cole and Minister O’Sullivan in the sensory garden the building was blessed by Fr. Declan Thompson before the minster cut the red ribbon and declared the building officially open. Thanks also to Ms. Ann Phelan T.D. and Mr Pat Deering T.D. for their attendance along with all the local Councillors.
