Ms O’Neill brought in seven eggs. They were in the incubator for three weeks. The temperature had to be kept at 37 degrees Celsius. The first one hatched on Tuesday 26th April. By Wednesday 27th April we had six chickens! At first they were under a red lamp and we couldn’t touch them.
School was closed so we didn’t see them for nearly two weeks. They doubled in size in that time. Now they are in their own coup in the school garden. We can lift them up and touch them gently. They learning how to fly and how to catch worms!
We are going to keep them along with the three hens we already have. We hope to have lots of fresh eggs in school when they begin to lay eggs!
