For some people it was freezing but for us the blood was rushing through us because we were pumped up for our final. Everyone in the dressing room was nervous but our coaches (Ms.O’Neill and Ms.Corr) gave us a great prep talk to calm us down. We then jogged onto the pitch with great pride and fire in our stomachs. We warmed up and then our brave captain (Sinead) went in for the coin toss. In the first half we were playing against the wind. The referee blew his whistle and the match began. Bennekerry were out for blood since they lost the match against us the week before but we had the upper hand. We were a goal and a point up when Bennekerry got their first goal against us. We got 2 more outstanding goals and that put us in the lead. The referee blew his whistle 3 times and the first half was over. Everyone jogged in and huddled up for the team talk.
After an amazing team talk from our coaches we were pumped up for the second half. The referee blew his whistle and we ran back to our positions on the pitch. Bennekerry came back on fire but we blew it out with our amazing football skills. In the middle of the second half, Sinead bumped heads with a Bennekerry girl but our team leader shook it off.
The whistle finally blew three more times and we had won our final! We ran onto the sideline, screaming and shouting. The atmosphere was impeccable. Our team captain (Sinead) was presented with the shield and made a fantastic speech. We all ran into the dressing room and started screaming “CHAMPIONS!!”. There were big smiles on our faces and we all got into our cars cheering and shouting. It was amazing!

Looking forward to the final on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. Best of luck girls.
Congratulations to our girls football team who have qualified for the final in Division 1 of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Ceatharlach competition.
So far the girls have beaten Scoil Mhuire gan Smál and Gaelscoil Ceatharlach from Carlow town, Ballon N.S. and Benekerry N.S. to top their league stage.
We now meet Bennekerry N.S. again in the final in what should be a close game. This takes place next Tuesday 25th October at 6 p.m. All support would be much appreciated.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the schools cross country competition in Carlow Town Hurling club and especially to Emily Monahan who won a medal. It was great to see so many children out running and representing their school with pride.
As a school community we are very aware of the importance of positive mental health, Sixth class made some wonderful posters to illustrate the power of words and their impact on others.
Congratulations to all our school community and to Bagenalstown Improvement Group on their success in the Pride of Place awards. We have been working extremely hard on developing the school gardens and providing opportunities for the students in the school to sow flowers, plant vegetables, compost their leftovers and weave willow structures. Mr Cox and Ms. Connolly have worked extremely hard with parent volunteers and with valuable support from B.I.G. over the last number of years and we are not finished yet. We are working from a plan kindly developed by John Murphy and the next step is to create a flower bed reflecting the beauty of Mount Leinster and the nine stones viewing area.
